NBA – Stephen Brun decides cash in the Wemby vs Chet debate: “It’s over”
NBA Victor Wembanyama, Stephen Brun and Chet HolmgrenNBA (DR) /
Since the start of the season, the battle has raged between Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren.
Which of the two pivots will finish with the Rookie of the Year trophy in their pocket? On the side of France and in particular of the former player and consultant Stephen Brun, there would no longer really be a question.
After a first duel without flavor last fall, Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren faced each other for the second time this night.
And neither of them was able to stand out the previous time, this round clearly goes to the French prodigy.
With 24 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks as well as unheard of in no less than 50 years, the former Mets dominated his opponent (17 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks).
We know that direct face-to-faces can weigh in the balance when awarding trophies and this match therefore clearly plays in favor of the first pick of the 2023 draft.
Even before the opposition took place, however, we were convinced that the ROY trophy would go to Wemby, on the French side. On the set of RMC Sport, Stephen Brun notably released a flamboyant plea on the tricolor nugget:
Wembanyama guaranteed to be Rookie of the Year according to Stephen Brun
Fred Weis: It was assumed that he could do 20-10s, and in fact he is doing them.
We thought he was going to play 34-35 (minutes), ultimately he played almost 8 minutes less and despite that, he did what we had planned.
We have to stop the charade, if he is not rookie of the month in January Victor Wembanyama, it’s over, I don’t do Basket Time anymore, I don’t do NBA anymore, I unsubscribe from my League Pass and I don’t give any more sorrel to this league.
Because there are no photos for the month of January! You project Victor’s stats for the month of January over 36 minutes, it’s 30 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks on average.
He is far above he has done things that Chet Holmgren has never done, we recall that he has already made a triple-double this season, that he has a peak of 38 points, that he has a record at eight blocks, that he has already made ten passes (in one game), he had a game with 20 points and 20 rebounds, a game with six interceptions…
All that, Chet Holmgren did not do.
Let’s stop comparing the two. Yes, Chet Holmgren is on a better team, well done dude, you were drafted by OKC, congratulations to you, you are winning games.
But you are not in the same league as Victor Wembanyama.
It’s difficult to get any clearer from the former player and for now, it’s true that the arguments are strong.
Chet Holmgren certainly wins a lot more matches than Victor Wembanyama, but that has never really had an impact in the race for Rookie of the Year and that should not change this year.
And when we see how the French dominated him during their second opposition, it would seem that the latter has taken the upper hand.
