Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend pays tribute to the Iowa star with heartwarming message on social media after her NCAA title defeat to South Carolina: ‘My GOAT’

Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend has paid tribute to the Iowa star in the cutest of fashions on social media after the NCAA women’s championship game, as he called his girlfriend ‘the G.O.A.T’ despite her collegiate career coming to an end with no titles.

On Sunday, Connor McCaffrey – Clark’s boyfriend – shared a photo of the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer (for both men and women’s hoops) exiting the court for the last time as a Iowa Hawkeye on his Instagram Story with the caption of the acronym used to call someone (or something) the ‘greatest of all time.’

McCaffrey – a former member of Iowa’s men’s basketball team and the son of Iowa head coach Fran McCaffrey – included two red heart emojis and a pair of heart gesture ones, which was Clark’s signature on-court celebration throughout her senior season.

Clark, who is the consensus first overall pick in this year’s WNBA draft, reposted the message later on her own Instagram Story.

It’s unclear when exactly Clark and McCaffrey started dating.

The couple went public with their relationship when she shared a few pictures of herself with McCaffrey on a boat in August of last year.

‘Best end to summer,’ Clark captioned her post at the time, including a black heart emoji.

McCaffrey was also left in awe over his girlfriend’s 41-piece against LSU in the Elite Eight round, last week.

Clark’s boyfriend isn’t the only one to call the 22-year-old point guard ‘the G.O.A.T’ as South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley used the acronym to describe Clark in her post-championship win speech on Sunday.

‘[…] I personally want to thank Caitlin Clark for lifting up our sport,’ Staley said after the Gamecocks defeated the Hawkeyes, 87-75, on Sunday.

‘She carried a heavy load for our sport. … Caitlin Clark if you’re out there you’re one of the GOATs of our game. We appreciate you.’
