Angel Reese dubs herself the ‘Chi Barbie’ after Chicago Sky draftee admitted she needed a new nickname… but the former LSU star admits she’ll ‘always be Bayou Barbie’

Angel Reese has debuted a new nickname – the ‘Chi Barbie’ – after the newly-drafted Chicago Sky player admitted she needed a new moniker.

Reese, who starred at LSU in college, was known as the ‘Bayou Barbie’ when she played for the school, but is now moving from the South to the Midwest after being selected No. 7 overall by the Sky in Monday’s WNBA Draft.

And following an X post in which she asked fans to help her pick a new nickname, Reese has apparently landed on one herself.

‘Hey y’all, so it’s the Chi Barbie here,’ Reese began a new TikTok video.

‘I want y’all to know I’m still gonna be the Bayou Barbie, but I’m going to Chicago now so, they basically already been inheriting me into Chicago.

‘Some people that reached out to me, the love from Chicago is running deep and going crazy. So I’m the Chi Barbie, the Baltimore Barbie and I am always gonna be the Bayou Barbie.

Reese attended Louisiana State after growing up in Maryland – hence the lesser-known Baltimore Barbie nickname being included as well.

After the WNBA Draft, Reese put her on-court rivalry with former Iowa star Caitlin Clark aside as she gushed over ‘all the girls’ she got to know in New York City.

‘the best part of the weekend in NYC was getting to know all the girls after being sooo competitive for the last 4 years!!’ Reese shared on X on Wednesday.

She added, ‘everybody was such a vibe & we all had so much FUN which shows how competitive we all are ON THE COURT!! NOTHING IS PERSONAL!!!’

Reese is expected to make her WNBA debut when the Sky take on the Dallas Wings at College Park Center on May 15.
