Wu-Tang Clan rapper Method Man allegedly involved in assault at Staten Island Crunch Fitness

Clash rules everything around me.

Rapper and actor Method Man, a member of the legendary hip-hop collective Wu-Tang Clan, was allegedly involved in an assault on a family friend at a Crunch Fitness gym on Staten Island, law enforcement sources told The Post Thursday.

Hempstead, Strong Island-born Method Man, 53, whose real name is Clifford Smith, allegedly punched Patrick Sokoya, 28, in the face seven times “with a closed fist,” the sources said.Method Man performing onstage at the 2024 ONE MusicFest in Central Park, Atlanta, Georgia with arms out in front.

The alleged assault was the result of a relationship Sokoya had with the “Tical” rapper’s daughter more than a decade ago.

The alleged victim reported that Smith had brought the pain to his face and was feeling dizzy but refused medical attention at the scene, the sources said.

A complaint report was filed with the NYPD, but Smith was not arrested, sources said.

Previously, Smith was busted with an ounce of weed in his car in 2007 after a traffic booth cop in Brooklyn pulled him over for an expired registration.

The officer was hit with a waft of cannabis smoke when Smith, who sometimes goes by Johnny Blaze, rolled down the window of his Lincoln.

The Grammy-winner was also hauled into Staten Island Criminal Court in 2009 after failing to file New York State income taxes from 2004 through 2007 — accruing a total debt of $32,799.

He blamed his chronic marijuana use for his nonpayment.

“Because I got high, I forgot to pay. It was stupid,” he told reporters at the time.

In addition to his decade-spanning run as one of Wu-Tang Clan’s most recognizable members, Smith is a prolific actor, who has more than 130 credits on IMDB.

He’s also sold more than 4 million solo albums.

A rep for Smith told The Post via email, “Mr. Smith categorically denies the allegations as reported and has not been the subject of an arrest by any law enforcement agency. “
