Viewers tuning into BBC Breakfast on Saturday morning (November 22) had a rare glimpse into Naga Munchetty’s upbringing as she shared a cautionary tale live on the programme.

Charlie Stayt joined Naga for hosting duties today, with attentions soon turning to coveted Christmas gifts during childhood.

Charlie shared that the BBC breakfast team had been chatting about “iconic” Christmas gifts, including items the team wanted but never got their hands on as they grew up.

“There are lots of people who will never forgive their parents for not giving them something that they really wanted,” he began, as Naga pressed him for his answer.

“No, not me actually,” he clarified, before adding: “Though I did want an action man and it wasn’t allowed – but that was a very long time ago,” as laughter erupted from the production crew.

The hosting tuo then turned to weatherman Simon King who said he had always wanted a Slushie maker in his youth. However, Naga was quick to interject with a warning.

“My cousins had one,” she started. “And I was really envious of it but – I’ll make you feel better – that product then, a long time ago, when you used to scrunch it because it was a slush-making machine, bits of plastic used to come out as well.

“So it was never very good, so you didn’t miss out.”

A relieved-looking Simon replied: “Good, I’m glad for that thank you.”
