Strictly Come Dancing fans have taken to social media to share their concerns about the BBC show’s long-running host, Tess Daly, after a mishap live on air. During Saturday’s live show, which was filmed in Blackpool’s prestigious Tower Ballroom for week nine of the competition, Tess was reading from an autocue, wearing a white dress with a matching cape.
She was sitting beside Pussycat Dolls star Ashley Roberts and Hollyoaks actor Danny Mac when she messed up and said: “We can’t wait to see you perform later on. Thank you so much for coming…” It’s common knowledge that the Strictly Come Dancing results show is pre-recorded after Saturday’s live show, but the hosts continue to maintain the pretence.

Following her error, she took a rather long and awkward pause while speaking. Ashley Roberts turned her head, looking confused, before Tess continued: “Up next…
“They’ve had 10s from Motsi and Anton for the last two weeks, but can they convince Craig and Shirley?”
Fans were left baffled as to why Tess “glitched” mid-sentence, taking to X with their own thoughts and suggestions on the matter. Someone wrote: “I thought I had pressed the pause button.”
Another said: “I think she was waiting for the autocue, but should have ad libbed.” A third wrote: “First human buffering I have ever seen.”
However, others suggested that Tess slipped up and used the word “later” instead of “tomorrow” when discussing the results show, which airs this evening (Sunday, November 23), although it was filmed on Saturday night.
Someone said: “She had just said later instead of tomorrow, so I would imagine they were talking in her ear about it, which put her off for a couple of seconds.”
Another added: “It’s because she was being told off for saying that she couldn’t wait to see them dance later instead of tomorrow.”
“You can pinpoint the exact moment Tess realises she’s [messed] up by officially revealing the Sunday show isn’t live,” a fan shared.
