McFarr, who worked as Chris Pratt’s stunt double on Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World, died at his Florida home on Monday, his family has revealed.

The daredevil’s mother Donna confirmed the tragic news to TMZ, but the official cause of his death is still pending.

She called his death “unexpected and shocking” and described her son as “active and healthy”.

Pratt shared a moving tribute on his Instagram, saying: “Devastated to hear about the loss of my friend and former stunt double Tony McFarr.

“We did several movies together. We golfed, drank whiskey, smoked cigars, and spent endless hours on set.”

He added: “He was always a gentleman and professional. He’ll be missed. My prayers go out to his friends and family, especially his daughter.”

For over a decade, McFarr has been gracing the silver screen in some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters.

The father-of-one landed his first major credits in 2012 on projects including Homeland, Teen Wolf and Rock of Ages.

McFarr went on to star in Furious 7 (2015), Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 (2014), The Accountant (2016), and Captain America: Civil War (2016).

Overtime, he developed a steadfast friendship with Pratt who he worked with first on Jurassic World in 2015.

The stuntman joined him again on the set of Passengers (2016), and later Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017).

McFarr also racked up some acting credits on shows like Macgyver, Burn Notice and One Tree Hill.

In recent years, he threw his energy into two restaurants in Florida, including a poke bowl film-themed eatery.
